Fans were left in shock after a video emerged showing actor Shia LaBeouf, 38, involved in a heated altercation outside an Edinburgh pub. The footage, recorded on Saturday, August 31, features the Transformers star, who recently converted to Catholicism, aggressively shouting, "Let’s go, I’m right here, m**********r."
In the video, LaBeouf is seen tossing his cap to the ground and raising his fists before being restrained by two men. The actor’s representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the incident.
LaBeouf has been in Scotland with his wife, Mia Goth, who is currently filming Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Dr. Frankenstein movie, set to premiere in 2025. The couple has been spotted in Edinburgh and Glasgow over the past week.
The previous night, a staff member from Whistlebinkies pub told The Sun that LaBeouf had been courteous and well-behaved: “He visited on Friday and was very pleasant to everyone,” the employee said. “The altercation captured in the video happened the following day. I was aware that something had happened, but it’s not unusual for incidents to occur.”
This is not LaBeouf’s first encounter with controversy. In 2014, he was arrested outside New York City's Studio 54 for causing a disturbance during a performance of Cabaret. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was mandated to attend a treatment program. Three years later, he was arrested again in Georgia for similar charges and issued a public apology, expressing regret for his actions and taking full responsibility.
The Edinburgh incident occurs amid ongoing legal issues for LaBeouf, who faces accusations of abuse and sexual battery from British singer FKA Twigs (Tahliah Debrett Barnett). In 2020, Twigs filed a lawsuit alleging sexual assault, battery, and emotional distress from their brief relationship in 2018-2019. While the trial has experienced delays, it is expected to take place by either November 1, 2023, or December 6, 2023, depending on the court's schedule.
Although LaBeouf has denied the abuse allegations, he has admitted to a troubled past, stating, “I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I am deeply ashamed of that history and apologize to those I have hurt.”
