Josh Duhamel Unplugged
After decades in the glimmer of Hollywood, actor Josh Duhamel has stepped away from the spotlight — and into the stillness of the woods.
The 52-year-old Transformers star recently revealed in an interview with Parade that he’s relocated to his home state of Minnesota, where he’s building a cabin far from the buzz of city life. The closest store? Forty miles away. And that’s exactly how he wants it.
Duhamel, who shares a one-year-old son, Shepherd, with wife Audra Mari and co-parents 11-year-old Axel with ex-wife Fergie, says the move is about more than scenery — it’s about building something lasting. His vision isn’t just a home, but a place his children will return to for generations.
“Part of the reason I built my place out in Minnesota, deep in the woods, is it’s removed from everything,” Duhamel told Parade. “Once we get there, it's really about everybody taking care of each other — making memories, spending time with family and friends.”
Far from Hollywood’s red carpets and rigid schedules, Duhamel’s days now involve soccer on the beach with Axel, boat rides, and quiet evenings by the fire. He says the slower pace has not only deepened his relationship with his kids, but also reconnected him with his own father, who often visits to spend time together — something they rarely did in his youth.
While Duhamel admits he never quite felt at home in the high-gloss world of LA, his new life in the Midwest feels grounding. It’s a lifestyle built around family, nature, and simplicity — one he hopes will shape the values of his sons as they grow.
For Duhamel, this move isn’t a retreat — it’s a return. To who he really is, and to the kind of life that feeds the soul.
