Football Frenzy and Fashion Faux Pas
On a recent Friday, June 28, the ITV’s Good Morning Britain show was steered by Kate Garraway and Robert Rinder. They were joined by the renowned comedian and actor, Frank Skinner, who was there to discuss the upcoming England vs Slovakia match.
As the Euro fever has gripped the nation, the 1996 football anthem ‘Three Lions’, performed by Frank, David Baddiel, and The Lightning Seeds, has been on everyone’s lips. However, the song has stirred controversy as the Football Association pondered over its ban.
Frank, who had just announced the extension of his ‘30 Years of Dirt’ tour, engaged in a lively discussion about football with the hosts. Kate confessed that she and Robert might not be the best authorities on the sport, a statement that Robert was quick to contest.
When Kate prodded him for his views on England’s performance at the UEFA European Championship a performance that many football enthusiasts have criticized Robert responded with a terse “No comment”. This left Frank Skinner to awkwardly navigate the tension between the hosts.
“I didn’t know you two were going to squabble. This is awkward!”, he interjected, quoting from the original copy. Fortunately, the rest of the program proceeded without any further disagreements.
Robert couldn’t resist commenting on England’s “anaemic” performance at the Euros 2024, to which Kate concurred. Frank speculated that Gareth Southgate, whom he described as “a very careful” man, could be a contributing factor.
Earlier that morning, Kate was taken aback when she found Andi Peters deep in conversation with Charlotte Hawkins. She had to call out his name to grab his attention during the introduction of a new competition that promised a lucky viewer a chance to win a staggering £250k.
Caught off guard, Andi quickly apologized: “Sorry!”, he exclaimed, before adding: “I was just telling Charlotte she looks like she’s been tangoed.” This sparked a tense discussion about Charlotte’s choice of a bright orange dress for the day.
“Yeah, thanks for that”, Charlotte retorted, prompting Kate to quip: “We’re a couple of highlighter pens this morning, Charlotte and I”, referring to her own vibrant pink blouse.
