Career Beginnings
Helen Skelton embarked on her journalism career at CFM Radio, where she honed her skills and passion for storytelling. In 2005, she joined BBC Radio Cumbria as a breakfast presenter, further establishing herself in the industry.
Blue Peter (2008-2013)
Helen Skelton's journey to prominence soared when she co-hosted the iconic children's show, Blue Peter. She conquered tough challenges, including the grueling 78-mile Namibian ultra-marathon in an impressive time of 23 hours and 45 minutes. Her time on Blue Peter showcased her resilience and determination, making it a notable television role.
Sports Relief
Helen Skelton, known for her appearances on Blue Peter, took on remarkable challenges for Sports Relief. In 2010, she achieved two Guinness World Records while kayaking the Amazon River for six weeks, covering over 2,000 miles. She broke the record for the longest solo journey by kayak and the longest distance covered in a kayak by a woman in 24 hours.

Helen's charitable efforts continued as she fearlessly walked a 150-meter tightrope over Battersea Power Station in 2011 and became the first person to reach the South Pole using a bicycle in the following year. Her dedication to making a difference was evident through her participation in the Magnificent 7 challenges for Comic Relief in 2013.
Countryfile (2014-Present)
Helen Skelton, a nature enthusiast, joined Countryfile in 2014. Despite humorous mishaps, she showcases Cumbria's beauty and her love for the outdoors. Helen also co-hosts "On the Farm" with Jules Hudson, exploring farming culture and welcoming new additions.
Strictly Come Dancing 2022
In 2022, Helen Skelton joined Strictly Come Dancing as a contestant. Paired with professional dancer Gorka Marquez, Helen's journey on the show was remarkable. Despite her initial shyness and lack of confidence, she grew and excelled, reaching the final. Although she finished as the runner-up to Hamza Yassin, her Countryfile colleague, Helen expressed pride in their hard work and incredible experience together.
