Series star gets married
According to reports, Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer has recently married her fiancé, actor David Oakes, in a secret and intimate ceremony in Somerset.
The 41-year-old star of Vikings: Valhalla apparently exchanged vows with Oakes at a nearby small service after enjoying a private dinner at Roth Bar Grill in Bruton with close friends.
Dormer and Oakes began dating in 2019, having worked together in the West End play Venus in Fur in 2017. Before Oakes, Dormer was engaged to director Anthony Byrne, whom she met on the set of The Tudors in 2007. Despite proposing in 2011, the couple never got around to setting a wedding date and eventually split up in 2018.
In January 2021, Dormer and Oakes welcomed their daughter into the world. Dormer revealed the news during a conversation with Esther Rantzen on the That’s After Life podcast, adding that she may find acting more difficult now that she's a mother. However, she is considering a return to the theatre where she could take advantage of more family-friendly hours.
Dormer is best known for her role as Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones, while Oakes is a rising star in his own right thanks to his performances in various productions, including The Pillars of the Earth and The White Queen.
In an interview on the That’s After Life! podcast, Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer discussed the joys of motherhood during the pandemic. Dormer jokingly referred to her daughter as a "COVID baby" and speculated that there will be many more born during this time. She shared that her daughter is a source of absolute joy, but also acknowledged the challenges of sleep deprivation. Despite this, Dormer expressed gratitude for the experience and noted that it has given her a newfound appreciation for manageable work hours as an actress.
