The legend from the rock band
Drummer Alan White of the British rock band YES has died at the age of 73. The announcement was made on the band's official Twitter page on Thursday.
"YES are deeply saddened to announce that Alan White has passed away at the age of 72 following a brief illness," the statement reads.
White's family says he died at his home near Seattle, Washington, on Thursday.
YES (Stephen James Howe, Geoffrey Downes, William Wyman Sherwood, Jon Davison), still one of the flagships of art and progressive rock, was founded in 1968 by John David Anderson and Christopher Russell Edward Squire, who died in 2015.
Alan White joined the band in 1972. In more than half a century of history, the band has released 22 studio albums, and the combined circulation of all their recordings, including live discs and compilations, is approaching 50 million copies.
Moreover, Alan has participated in recording of about fifty albums with such legendary rock-stars as:
- John Lennon;
- George Harrison;
- Joe Cocker;
- The Ventures.
Moreover, Alan at the age of 17 was already touring cabaret with Ronald Wycherley's band The Gamblers.
Also, in 1969, John Lennon invited Alan to join Yoko Ono, Eric Patrick Clapton and Klaus Voormann.
