TV Couple Calls It Quits
After more than two decades as a couple, Amandaland actor Peter Serafinowicz and Coupling star Sarah Alexander have reportedly ended their marriage. The pair, who share a son and daughter, had been together since 2002.
Serafinowicz, 52, is widely recognized for his sharp comedic timing and memorable impressions, including his parody of Donald Trump. He recently starred as the polished yet snobbish Johannes Van Der Velde in the BBC’s Amandaland. His film work includes voicing Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, appearing in Shaun of the Dead, and playing Garthan Saal in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Alexander, 53, has had a successful career in British television, with roles in Jonathan Creek, Green Wing, Smack the Pony, and Marley’s Ghosts. She also had a minor role in Bridget Jones’s Diary and played Empusa in Stardust.
The couple’s relationship began under public scrutiny, as Alexander was initially married to Hadleigh actor Gerald Harper, who was 40 years her senior. After her divorce, she and Serafinowicz built a life together and later married.
A source close to the couple shared, “It’s very sad, but the split is recent.” The reasons for their separation remain private, and neither Serafinowicz nor Alexander has publicly commented on the matter.
Beyond his acting career, Serafinowicz recently revealed his struggles with ADHD, saying it had a profound effect on his early life and education. In an interview with The Times, he admitted that he left school during his A-levels because he found education overwhelming, later discovering a passion for drama instead.
Meanwhile, Serafinowicz’s latest TV project, Million Dollar Secret, has drawn comparisons to The Traitors, with viewers debating its originality. The show, which debuted last month on Netflix, tasks millionaires with secret agendas that could shift the course of the game.
Despite their shared industry, Serafinowicz and Alexander had previously spoken about maintaining a balance between work and personal life. In a 2015 interview, Alexander described her ideal evening as spending time with her husband and children, enjoying a quiet night at home.
