Gordon Ramsay’s Cat Theft Crisis
Gordon Ramsay has shared some of the unexpected hurdles he’s encountered following the launch of his latest restaurant, Lucky Cat, located in the towering 22 Bishopsgate – the tallest office building in London. The upscale Asian-inspired eatery, which boasts incredible panoramic views of the city, has certainly made a splash since its opening earlier this month. However, some unforeseen issues have cropped up, leaving Ramsay with a few interesting stories to tell.
Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show this Saturday, the renowned chef and restaurateur, 58, addressed the unexpected problem: “We’ve got a problem with the toilets. There are lots of couples going in there and treating it like the ‘mile high’ bathroom.” The comment left the audience laughing, but Ramsay’s observation highlights the quirky nature of the restaurant’s early days.
But it wasn’t just the restrooms that caused a stir. Ramsay went on to reveal another unexpected issue: diners have been swiping the lucky cat statues that adorn each table. “The cats are getting stolen. There were 477 stolen last week – they cost £4.50 each!” he said, shaking his head in disbelief. It seems that the charm of the restaurant’s decor is proving irresistible to some.
Beyond his restaurant ventures, Ramsay also shared some humorous moments from his personal life. When asked by Ross whether he and his wife, Tana, are finished expanding their family – they already have six children, ranging in age from 26 to just 14 months – Ramsay gave a lighthearted response: “I’d like to think so, yes,” he laughed, offering a glimpse into the busy household he shares with Tana.
In a more sentimental moment, Ramsay spoke fondly of his daughter Holly, who is set to marry Olympic gold medalist Adam Peaty in a “Christmas wedding.” Ramsay praised Peaty, saying, “He’s so grounded. Those two get on so well. It’s a blessing.” Holly and Peaty first met in 2021 when he appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, alongside Ramsay’s younger daughter Tilly. The couple got engaged last September and have since been preparing for their upcoming nuptials.
