The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has initiated an inquiry into a controversial promotional poster for Scottish comedian Fern Brady’s latest tour after receiving a complaint alleging it "disrespects the Christian religion." The poster, promoting her tour I Gave You Milk to Drink, shows Brady squirting breast milk onto a man dressed in religious robes, with a stained-glass window in the background featuring the tour’s title.

The ASA has officially launched an investigation in response to a complaint about a potentially offensive advertisement. The complaint claims the poster ridicules Christian beliefs, raising concerns about whether it crosses the line of acceptability. An ASA spokesperson commented, “The complainant believes the ad mocks the Christian faith, and we are reviewing it to determine if it violates UK advertising standards. No conclusions have been reached yet.”

As the inquiry moves forward, the ASA will assess if the poster breaches any advertising rules, and their findings will be made public in the coming weeks.

Brady, known for her daring and often controversial humor, responded to the complaint on social media, sarcastically thanking the person who reported it.

Fern Brady gained recognition after competing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has made appearances on well-known UK shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats and Taskmaster. She has also been open about her late autism diagnosis in 2021, which she says has greatly influenced her life and comedy.
