Giovanni Pernice Fights Back
Giovanni Pernice, the celebrated professional dancer from 'Strictly Come Dancing,' has officially denied allegations of "abusive or threatening behaviour." The 33-year-old Italian star expressed his shock at the reports that the BBC is investigating complaints about his conduct.
In a recent Instagram statement, Giovanni Pernice responded to the recent allegations regarding his dance teaching methods. "The accusations made against me in the media this week have come as a complete shock. I firmly deny any claims of abusive or threatening behavior and am eager to clear my name," he stated.
Pernice, renowned for his dedication and competitive spirit, further commented, "I am deeply committed to my dance partners and their success. My intense drive to help them excel comes from a place of passion and a genuine desire to see both of us achieve greatness."
He concluded his message by expressing gratitude for the continued support from his fans.
In a recent development, Carter-Ruck, a prominent legal firm, has confirmed to the PA news agency that they are representing a group of complainants who have lodged serious grievances with the BBC. The firm stated that the BBC is currently in the process of gathering pertinent evidence related to these complaints. As the situation continues to unfold, Carter-Ruck has refrained from making any further comments at this juncture.
The Sun, which first reported the possibility of an investigation, also suggested that Pernice had left the show. However, neither the BBC nor Pernice has confirmed his departure.
Sicilian native, Pernice, has been lighting up the dance floor on BBC One’s celebrity dance competition since his debut in 2015. His journey reached a pinnacle in 2021 when he clinched the coveted Strictly glitterball trophy for the first time. His winning partner was none other than Rose Ayling-Ellis, the star of EastEnders and the first deaf contestant on the show.
But Pernice’s achievements don’t stop there. He also holds a unique place in the Guinness World Records. In 2016, on the BBC’s ‘Strictly It Takes Two’ show, he set a record for executing the most jive kick and flicks in a span of 30 seconds. This feat further solidified his status as a standout performer in the world of dance.
