The Inheritance Turns Wicked Elizabeth Hurley is about to make audiences see her in a whole new light as a glamorous but very much dead heiress in Channel 4’s upcoming reality series The Inheritance. The show, co-produced by the creators of hit format The Traitors, promises to blend mystery, strategy and dark humor in a stately home setting where nothing–and no one–can be trusted. The premise is deliciously theatrical: thirteen strangers are invited to a lavish country estate to compete for a share of the fortune left behind by “the Deceased,” Hurley’s character. Guiding them through the twists of the will is her executor, played by criminal barrister and TV personality Robert Rinder. Together, the unlikely duo add a mix of elegance and sharp wit to the game’s gothic atmosphere. The dynamic forces participants to argue their case, form fragile alliances, and sometimes betray one another to stay in the game. The line-up is as diverse as the challenges themselves. Competing this season are Catherine, a 50-year-old former police sergeant with years of experience reading people; Zara, a 36-year-old professional gamer from London with her eyes set on buying a home in Greece; and Pat, a 75-year-old chess teacher from Yorkshire proving that age is no barrier to strategy or ambition. Their different life stories and approaches create an unpredictable mix that producers hope will spark drama and surprise. Rinder praised the cast as “a rich variety of British life” and hinted that the challenges aren’t about punishment, but about pushing players into strange, unexpected situations. With its mix of strategy, drama and Hurley’s star power, The Inheritance is tipped to follow The Traitors as Channel 4’s next Sunday night obsession. The 12-episode series begins Sunday, August 31, at 9pm on Channel 4.
