West Ham United vs Arsenal
This weekend, West Ham United will face off against Premier League leaders Arsenal in what promises to be an exciting clash. Despite Arsenal's position at the top of the table with a six-point lead over second-placed Manchester City, former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson believes that the Hammers will come away with a point.
David Moyes' men will be looking to put some distance between themselves and the relegation battle. The Hammers have secured crucial wins against Southampton and Fulham in their last three matches, putting them three points clear of the bottom three.
On the other hand, Arsenal heads into this fixture after a dramatic 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield last weekend, in which they let a two-goal lead slip. Former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton believes the Gunners will bounce back with a 2-0 win on Sunday, but Lawrenson disagrees. He has backed a 1-1 draw between the two sides in his Premier League predictions for Paddy Power.
According to Lawrenson, "West Ham had a good win at Fulham, and with [Manchester] City hitting their stride, Arsenal can't afford to slip up, but I think they might. I think this might be a draw. Arsenal were fab in the first 15 minutes against Liverpool but collapsed a little bit. There were a lot of things going on off the ball, which was good, it reminded me of the old days!"
Injury-wise, Gianluca Scamacca is the only West Ham player who will miss out on Sunday's fixture. The Italian striker has been out since last month's international break due to a knee injury that will require surgery and could keep him out for the rest of the season.
Overall, this weekend's game promises to be a thrilling encounter between two teams with contrasting objectives. West Ham will be looking to secure a point or more to distance themselves from the relegation battle, while Arsenal will be eager to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
