Strike in London today
Hospital cleaners and nurses on strike over a pay dispute came to support railway workers during a rally in central London.
Several hundred people gathered outside King's Cross St Pancras station on Saturday afternoon for a rally by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) union.
This came as RMT members walked out for the third time this week over disagreements over wages, jobs and conditions, with little sign of a breakthrough in negotiations between the union and rail operators.
On the eve of the protests, dozens of hospital workers and cleaners, backed by the GMB handyman union, arrived in a show of support for the railway workers.
Staff at St George's Hospital in Tooting Hill went on a week-long strike over pay and conditions this week.
They arrived to the applause of the railway workers and RMT president Alex Gordon announced from the stage, "Welcome, victory for the cleaners".
Hospital workers carried their own placards saying "#endoutsourcing" and "Out Mitie".
A group of hospital staff have called for Mitie to be sacked as the GMB union calls for staff contracts to be returned to St George's University Hospitals Trust.
The crowd then heard speakers including Labour MP Diane Abbott.
During her speech Abbott said she had given the workers her "personal support".
