Vicki’s Family Drama Unfolds
After 20 years, Vicki Fowler is making a dramatic return to *EastEnders*, now played by *Andor* star Alice Haig. The daughter of Michelle Fowler (Susan Tully) and Dirty Den Watts (Leslie Grantham), Vicki left Albert Square in 2004 to start a new life in Australia with Spencer Moon (Christopher Parker).
However, Vicki’s return isn’t under the best of circumstances. Coming back to the UK with a new partner, Ross, and his son Joel, she arrives in the midst of emotional turmoil. Her return is triggered by the tragic death of her uncle, Martin, who was fatally injured in last week’s dramatic EastEnders episode. The shock of Martin’s death, following a heroic attempt to rescue Stacey, has left the residents of Walford reeling.
Martin’s passing, which occurred after a heartbreaking sequence where he succumbed to a cardiac arrest following an accident at the Queen Victoria pub explosion, has left fans “traumatised.” Viewers witnessed the brutal loss of a character who had been central to the soap for years.
Now, Vicki's return brings with it an added layer of intrigue, as she reconnects with her sister Sharon (Letitia Dean) and Spencer’s brother Alfie (Shane Richie). But there’s more to this reunion: Vicki’s new relationship with Ross, played by The Bill's Alex Walkinshaw, promises to shake things up on Albert Square. Walkinshaw describes his character as a “decent, hardworking family man” who is “very in love with Vicki,” but warns that their relationship is not without complications.
“It’s so cool to be playing a character like Vicki we think we know her, but a lot has changed. I can’t wait for all the Albert Square drama ahead,” said Haig, expressing her excitement about taking on the role of a character with such a rich legacy.
Max Murray joins the cast as Joel, Ross’s teenage son, marking another exciting development for the family’s storyline.
Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw said, “Vicki returns under tragic circumstances, representing her mum Michelle. She’s changed, and we’re excited for viewers to reconnect with her and meet Ross and Joel.”
With the residents of Walford preparing to honor the late Martin Fowler, it looks like the next few episodes are sure to be packed with drama. Fans can expect more twists and emotional moments as the Fowler family continues to shape the future of the show.
