Ozempic Side Effects Exposed
Amy Schumer recently opened up about her experience with Ozempic, shedding light on the intense side effects she endured while using the popular weight-loss drug.
During an open conversation on The Howard Stern Show on January 29, the comedian revealed that although she initially experienced weight loss, she had to stop using the medication due to its severe impact on her health.
“I have a gene, GDF15, that makes me extremely prone to nausea, which is also the reason my pregnancy was challenging,” she shared. “Around three years ago, I gave Ozempic a try, but it left me bedridden. I was vomiting non-stop and felt completely drained of energy.”
Schumer described the drug’s appeal as a “red flag,” questioning the dramatic results it promises. Despite shedding 30 pounds, she recalled feeling so weak that she couldn’t even play with her son.
The Trainwreck star has previously criticized celebrities for being dishonest about their weight-loss methods. Last year, she openly called out those who falsely attributed their transformations to smaller portions rather than medications like Ozempic.
Beyond Schumer, other public figures have also weighed in on the debate. Oprah Winfrey recently admitted that taking a similar weight-loss drug changed her long-held beliefs about willpower and dieting, noting that thin people may simply experience less “food noise.”
As GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy become increasingly popular, specialists are delving deeper into their impact on the body, with some suggesting these drugs may suppress appetite by slowing down the digestive process. Despite the buzz, Schumer found the trade-offs unappealing, sharing that the side effects left her feeling so fatigued that lifting her head from the pillow felt impossible. "If that's the result, what’s the benefit?" she pondered.
