Former Spice Girl Mel B could be hit with a defamation lawsuit worth up to £5 million, initiated by her ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte. The 49-year-old artist has made public claims of abuse throughout their ten-year marriage, which she alleges was characterized by numerouschallenges.

In response, Belafonte asserts that Mel B has intentionally engaged in a widespread effort to tarnish his reputation and cause him substantial emotional distress. This legal battle comes to light following detailed reports from The Mirror, underscoring the severity of the accusations and the potential ramifications on both parties' public images.

The couple, who married in 2007, ended their tumultuous relationship in 2018. Mel B detailed the alleged abuse in her memoir, Brutally Honest, which Belafonte vehemently denies.

A source quoted by The Mirror said, "It’s a cruel continuation of his abuse, conveniently timed around her birthday on May 29. But given his past behavior, it’s not surprising."

Belafonte argues that the allegations of domestic violence brought against him by Mel B starting in 2017 are part of a sustained campaign of harassment against him. Despite these accusations being later dismissed, the repercussions were significant, as noted by Express.
