Tom Welling’s Legal Trouble
Tom Welling, widely recognized for playing Clark Kent in the hit CW series Smallville, has reportedly landed in legal trouble following a DUI-related arrest in California over the weekend.
According to multiple sources, the 47-year-old actor was taken into custody by Yreka police shortly after midnight on Sunday. Authorities apprehended Welling in an Arby’s parking lot before booking him at the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office around 2 a.m. He was later released by 7 a.m., with an arraignment set for March 11.
Details of the Arrest
The news first surfaced via TMZ, which stated that Welling’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) registered at 0.08%, the legal limit in California. Meanwhile, The New York Post referenced his official booking records, noting that despite the situation, his speech remained “clear” at the time of the arrest.
A Career Beyond Smallville
While Smallville cemented Welling’s place in pop culture, his career has extended beyond the iconic superhero series. He portrayed LAPD lieutenant Marcus Pierce in Lucifer, made appearances in Batwoman and The Winchesters, and starred in films like Cheaper by the Dozen, The Fog, and Draft Day.
Additionally, Welling co-hosts TalkVille, a Smallville rewatch podcast, alongside Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor on the show. The actor has also voiced interest in reviving the Smallville universe, though obtaining Warner Bros.' approval has been a roadblock.
“We’re eager to make it happen. The truth is, we haven’t been able to get the green light from Warner Bros. We need their permission,” Welling told Screen Rant in a past interview.
Personal Life and Social Media Activity
Despite the recent arrest, Welling remained active on social media over the weekend, sharing a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Jessica Rose Lee Welling, in honor of her birthday. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, share two children.
