Job Rating

Mary Elizabeth Truss's job approval rating has fallen to a record low among all British prime ministers. This was reported by The Guardian on October 9, citing an Opinium poll.

Only 16% of the voters support the work of the politician.

The level of approval of Mary Elizabeth Truss's work is even lower than that of Theresa May a few weeks before her resignation, and of Boris Johnson at the height of the pandemic party scandal.

Her personal approval rating fell 10 percentage points to minus 47, Opinium, which began polling Saturday after New Labour rose. This is even lower than Boris Johnson's at the height of the so-called partygate scandal and his predecessor, Theresa May, in the weeks before her resignation. More than half of those polled think Mary Elizabeth Truss should resign, and among those who voted for the Conservative Party in the 2019 election, 39 percent said she should go.

Also, the poll shows that her party's chaotic conference in Birmingham last week further alienated Truss and her government from the electorate. Her finance minister, Kwasi Kwarteng, whose unfunded tax cut plan last month caused sterling to plummet and brought the country's bond market close to collapse, has an even worse personal approval rating of minus 51.

An Opinium poll for the Observer also showed the Labor Party ahead of the Conservatives by 21 points, in line with the latest figures from other polling firms.

It is worth noting that previously the rating of the new British prime minister was 18%.
