Biography

Christopher Gary Packham is an English naturalist, television presenter, photographer and author, best known for his work in wildlife broadcasting. He developed an interest in animals and the natural world at a young age and later studied zoology at the University of Southampton. Before becoming a television presenter, Packham worked as a wildlife cameraman and photographer.

Packham became widely known through the CBBC children’s nature programme The Really Wild Show, which he presented from 1986 to 1995. The series introduced younger audiences to wildlife, conservation and animal behaviour. His accessible presenting style and extensive knowledge helped establish him as one of Britain’s most recognisable natural-history broadcasters.

Since 2009, Packham has been a regular presenter of the BBC nature series Springwatch, alongside its seasonal programmes Autumnwatch and Winterwatch. In addition to his television career, he has written books about wildlife, conservation and his personal experiences. Packham is also a prominent environmental campaigner who regularly speaks about climate change, biodiversity loss and the protection of endangered species.
