Sara Martins is a Portuguese-French actress recognised for her work across television, film and theatre in France and the UK.
Before gaining international recognition, Martins built a solid career in French drama, appearing in a range of television productions and stage performances that showcased her classical training and versatility. Her breakthrough with English-speaking audiences came when she joined the cast of the British-French crime comedy-drama Death in Paradise, filmed in Guadeloupe.
In the hit series, she portrayed Detective Sergeant Camille Bordey, a sharp and intuitive local officer whose partnership with Detective Inspector Richard Poole became central to the show’s early success. Her performance helped anchor the drama’s blend of humour and mystery, earning her a loyal fan base.
Martins departed the series midway through Series 4 in January 2015 as her character accepted an undercover assignment in Paris. However, she later reprised the role in Season 10, Episode 6, and returned again in Series 13, Episode 1, appearing via video call with Neville Parker — a nod to the show’s long-running legacy and her enduring connection to the franchise.
With a career spanning French and British productions, Martins remains a respected figure in European television drama.
