Suri Drops Cruise Name
Tom Cruise has made an uncharacteristic remark about fatherhood while promoting his upcoming film Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, which he hinted may be his final appearance in the iconic franchise.
During a stop on his press tour, the 62-year-old was asked by an E! News presenter what an ideal Father’s Day would look like for him. Known for maintaining strict boundaries around his personal life, Cruise appeared momentarily caught off guard before offering a candid, if vague, reply: “Hey, just having fun, man. Making movies, big adventure, having a great time.”
Cruise shares three children with his ex-wives — an adopted son and daughter with Nicole Kidman, and a biological daughter, Suri, with Katie Holmes. While he rarely speaks publicly about his family, his relationship with Suri has long been the subject of media scrutiny.
In June 2024, reports surfaced across entertainment media revealing that Suri Cruise opted to use the name “Suri Noelle” at her high school graduation — formally stepping away from her father’s surname. The change, widely interpreted as a heartfelt nod to her mother, Katie Holmes, whose middle name is Noelle, was first spotted in a commencement program photo shared by Page Six, sourced via Backgrid.
Holmes and Cruise’s highly publicized romance began in 2005, leading to a whirlwind engagement and a lavish Italian wedding in 2006. They welcomed Suri in April of that year. Holmes filed for divorce in 2012 after five years of marriage, citing privacy concerns and a desire to shield their daughter from intense public attention.
Holmes later reflected on her parenting priorities in a Glamour interview, emphasizing her commitment to protecting her daughter’s privacy. Though Cruise has not publicly responded to Suri's recent decisions, his brief comment on Father’s Day may hint at a more personal reflection behind the scenes — even if he chooses to keep it well out of the spotlight.
