Mother’s Day Drama
Chris Pratt’s Mother’s Day tribute to his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, has prompted a wave of mixed reactions online, with fans divided over his silence regarding ex-wife Anna Faris, the mother of his first child.
On Sunday, 11 May, as the US celebrated Mother’s Day, the Guardians of the Galaxy actor took to Instagram to praise Schwarzenegger, with whom he shares three children: Kyla (4), Eloise (2), and their newest addition, five-month-old Ford. In the post, Pratt described Schwarzenegger as the family’s anchor, writing: “Our kids hit the jackpot with you, and so did I. We love you. Happy Mother’s Day, Chief!”
While many followers praised the heartfelt message, others were quick to notice the absence of any mention of Faris, who co-parents their 12-year-old son Jack. Jack’s premature birth and early health struggles have been well documented by Faris in her memoir Unqualified, where she recounted the challenges of his NICU stay and concerns about potential developmental issues.
The omission sparked debate in the comments section. Some users questioned why Faris was left out of the tribute, arguing that acknowledging her on Mother’s Day would have been respectful. Others defended Pratt, noting that public tributes to former partners are uncommon and, to some, inappropriate.
Pratt has previously faced backlash for a past post thanking Schwarzenegger for giving him a “gorgeous healthy daughter,” a comment many perceived as insensitive to Faris, given Jack’s health complications.
Despite their history, Faris has spoken positively about her evolving relationship with Pratt and his new family. In a 2022 interview, she shared that co-parenting dynamics have improved over time and expressed admiration for Schwarzenegger’s bond with Jack.
“She’s just on top of it. I love how she is with Jack,” Faris said, calling Schwarzenegger “awesome.”
Pratt and Faris were married from 2009 until their separation in 2017, finalizing their divorce the following year. Faris has since remarried cinematographer Michael Barrett and has expressed contentment with where life has led her.
As the discussion around Pratt’s post continues, it reflects the broader complexities of modern blended families — and how public figures navigate them under the spotlight.
