Strictly Stars Unite
Pete Wicks, known for his reality TV stints, has opened up about his dynamic with Strictly Come Dancing partner Jowita Przystal, firmly shutting down romance rumors. “We’re really good friends,” he stated, addressing speculation during his appearance on ITV’s Lorraine.
The duo, who have been dazzling audiences with their chemistry on the dancefloor, are preparing to perform a waltz to Somewhere from West Side Story in the show’s quarter-final this Saturday. Despite their undeniable bond, Wicks clarified that their relationship is purely platonic.
Discussing the media frenzy, the 36-year-old said, “It’s the press that think that… We’ve said from day one that we’re really good friends, but they just want to do what they want to do.” He added that their shared time during intense rehearsals has fostered a genuine closeness, something he describes as “the truth,” despite how clichéd it might sound.
Host Lorraine Kelly, playfully teasing him about his cologne, joked about a budding romance between the two of them, to which Wicks cheekily responded, “I would love to be going out with you, Lorraine. I’ll take you out for your birthday.” To mark her milestone 65th birthday, Wicks surprised her with a colorful rainbow cake, bringing a sweet moment to the conversation.
However, the interview also took a more serious turn when Wicks spoke about facing online vitriol, including death threats since joining Strictly. He admitted it’s “mad” to see such negativity around a lighthearted show meant to entertain. His partner, 30-year-old Polish dancer Jowita Przystal, echoed his sentiments, calling for more kindness. “We just want to entertain people… but I think we just need to be more kind to each other because the world is already a quite difficult place to be,” she shared.
As the pair prepares to hit the dancefloor for another captivating performance, their shared focus remains on bringing joy to their audience, proving that sometimes, friendship truly is at the heart of it all.
