Oliver's Maldives Surprise
Jamie Oliver recently opened up about feeling a bit embarrassed by the vow renewal ceremony he organized for his wife of 24 years, Jools. The 49-year-old celebrity chef has been married to Juliette Norton, a former model, since 2000, and together they have five children: Poppy, Daisy, Petal, Buddy, and River. In 2023, the couple renewed their vows during a lavish family holiday in the Maldives, a location famous for its luxurious settings and turquoise waters.
Oliver, who is known for speaking out against posh UK restaurants, admitted that he was initially hesitant about traveling to such an extravagant destination. However, he shared that the experience ended up being more enjoyable than he expected.
"We were going to renew our vows at 20 years, but Covid delayed it," Oliver explained in an interview. "I wasn’t so into it at first, but once we got there, I probably enjoyed it more than anyone. It was just so nice."
Reflecting on the ceremony, Oliver noted that this time, the vow renewal held a deeper meaning. Unlike their first wedding, which felt somewhat awkward, the years they spent together made the experience much more emotional and profound. The words in the vows felt more significant, representing everything the couple had gone through.
Earlier in April, Oliver posted on Instagram about their beachside renewal, describing it as a special moment, just before their children begin to leave the nest. Later in the summer, the couple also celebrated their union in a more playful Las Vegas ceremony, complete with an Elvis impersonator.
The renewal ceremonies marked important milestones for the couple, each filled with joy and reflection on their long journey together.
