Dave Bautista’s Slimdown
Dave Bautista has recently addressed concerns from fans regarding his noticeable weight loss, reassuring them that he's in good health.
The 55-year-old actor, known for his WWE wrestling days, explained that he had intentionally gained a significant amount of weight for his role in the 2023 thriller Knock at the Cabin. He admitted that this weight gain was uncomfortable and more extreme than necessary.
In an interview with TikTok personality Chris Van Vliet, Bautista said, “I started trimming down because I just got fat.” He elaborated that he reached 315 pounds by quickly packing on weight for the film, adding, “I probably overdid it. I was probably a little too big, but at the time I was just thinking: ‘I gotta get big.’”
Reflecting on his weight gain process, Bautista recalled that he didn’t build muscle the way he did in his WWE days. Instead, he consumed large quantities of unhealthy food, such as french fries and pancakes, per the request of director M. Night Shyamalan. The director told him, “I don’t want you to look like a powerlifter, I just want you to look like a great big guy.”
As Bautista began losing the excess weight, he realized that trimming down made him feel better physically and improved his appearance on screen. He also addressed the online comments from fans who are concerned about his health. Bautista emphasized that despite losing weight, he’s still a large person at 6’4” and 240 pounds, though people are used to seeing him at a larger size.
Up next for Bautista is The Last Showgirl, a film by Gia Coppola, where he stars alongside Pamela Anderson and Jamie Lee Curtis. Anderson's performance has already garnered praise, with some speculating she may even become an awards contender for her role.
By focusing on his physical and mental well-being, Bautista continues to show dedication to his craft while keeping fans assured of his health.
