Euphoria Star’s Painful Split

In a candid conversation on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Euphoria star Hunter Schafer shared the emotional journey of her break-up with ex-boyfriend Dominic Fike. Speaking with host Alex Cooper, Hunter revealed that this was her first monogamous relationship and that Dominic was “not perfect.”

Hunter disclosed that the relationship ended because she was cheated on for the first time. She mentioned that Dominic had already admitted to the infidelity publicly in one of his songs, which made her feel comfortable discussing it. “Part of why the relationship ended is I got cheated on for the first time,” Hunter told Alex.

Reflecting on the profound impact of betrayal, Hunter shared how it transformed her life. She highlighted that infidelity is more reflective of the cheater’s issues rather than the person who is betrayed. “It’s part of my story, and it fundamentally changed who I am,” she revealed. “Realizing that cheating is not about you, but about the other person’s struggles and pain, was a significant process. It’s challenging, but it’s their issues, not yours.”

Hunter also admitted that she initially wondered if Dominic’s infidelity was because she was the first trans woman he had ever dated. However, she now understands that it had nothing to do with her gender identity. She also shared that Dominic, who had only dated cis women before her, was unfazed by the public scrutiny they faced as a couple. “He saw me exactly for who I was… [I was] head over heels in love,” she said.

The couple met on the set of Euphoria in 2021 and began dating in early 2022. They broke up in July 2023. Despite the heartbreak, Hunter believes the break-up was ultimately for the best, as both she and Dominic needed to work on themselves. “It was so, so hard because we really loved each other,” she said. “He’s a really special person, and I love his soul and everything.”
