In the face of mounting speculation about their marital status, Jennifer Lopez, the 54-year-old singer famed for her hit “On the Floor”, took to Instagram to celebrate Father’s Day with a heartfelt tribute to Ben Affleck. This public gesture, posted on Sunday, June 16, featured a nostalgic black and white photo of Affleck, whom she affectionately referred to as their “hero”. She also commemorated her own father, David Lopez, in a separate Instagram Story post.
This display of affection unfolded amidst rumors that the couple, who wed in 2022, are considering selling their opulent $60m Beverly Hills mansion. Earlier this month, TMZ reported that the couple’s marital home was on the market, with Affleck allegedly relocating to a rental in Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood. The couple has yet to comment on these reports.
Fan speculation about a potential separation began to circulate due to a noticeable absence of recent photos of the couple together. This comes despite the fact that the couple, who rekindled their romance in 2021 nearly two decades after their initial engagement, have been seen together at various events, including a graduation party for Affleck’s son, Samuel, and a party for their daughter, Violet, hosted by Garner.
During a press conference for “Atlas” in Mexico City, Lopez found herself deflecting a reporter’s question about the divorce rumors. Her co-star, Simu Liu, was quick to intervene and dismiss the inquiry.
Affleck, who was previously married to Garner in 2005, has three children with her: Violet, Samuel, and 15-year-old Fin. Their divorce was finalized in October 2018, three years after they announced their separation. Lopez, meanwhile, has 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
The couple’s romance was rekindled in early 2021 following Lopez’s split from former New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez. Their engagement was announced in April 2022, marking a full circle moment 20 years after their first engagement in 2002, which ended in 2004.
Affleck and Lopez exchanged vows in a private ceremony in Las Vegas in July 2022, followed by a second wedding celebration at Affleck’s Georgia residence a month later.
