Hollywood Romance
Jodie Turner-Smith, the star of Queen and Slim, is maintaining a positive outlook regarding her ex, Joshua Jackson. The couple, who were married for four years, parted ways in 2023. Jodie recently shared her thoughts on Joshua’s new relationship with Lupita Nyong’o, a fellow actor.
In an interview with The Cut published on June 14, Jodie expressed her support for the new couple, stating, “Good for them. We need happiness in order to peacefully co-parent.”
As Jodie and Joshua, who are parents to their 4-year-old daughter, Juno, navigate this new phase of their lives, Jodie has a clear vision of the kind of relationship she aspires to have with her ex. She humorously mentioned, “I’m trying to get us to the Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin level,” before adding, “I truly hope Joshua and Lupita are happy and that it benefits us as a family.”
Jodie is prioritizing Juno in her approach to co-parenting with Joshua, who is known for his role in Dr. Death.
Joshua and Lupita, who is 41, first sparked romance rumors in October of the previous year when they were seen together at a Janelle Monae concert. In March, they were spotted in Mexico, celebrating Lupita’s birthday and appearing very much in love.
Meanwhile, Jodie has been focusing on her life as a single mom and her career, including her new role in the Star Wars show, The Acolyte. She also reflected on the challenges she faced when her arrival in Hollywood coincided with a high-profile romance.
While Jodie looks back at her romance with Joshua fondly, she acknowledges that her identity in Hollywood was closely tied to his. This was particularly evident when the couple, who were expecting Juno at the time, made their red carpet debut at the premiere of Jodie’s first starring role.
Jodie, in her innocence, didn’t realize the potential harm of her actions, which intruded on a personal moment she needed.
Following her split, Jodie Turner-Smith sought a fresh start, symbolized by her bridal-like Burberry gown at the 2024 Met Gala. She shared on Instagram that the dress, designed by Daniel Lee and adorned with English flowers, represented a rebirth and a recommitment to her most important relationship the one with herself.
She concluded, “It is through loving and honoring myself that I am able to love and honor my daughter, and teach her to do the same.”
