Lego in London

The capital's Lego flagship in Leicester Square, one of London's new landmarks, is preparing for a major refurbishment. Once completed, it will be the largest Lego shop in the world, according to Secret London.

The expansion will make the Leicester Square flagship, famous for its model of a Tube station, Big Ben and a sculpture of William Shakespeare, the largest in the world.

However, it remains to be seen whether the old rides will remain in place, but new ones have already been announced.

There will be an immersive Brick Lab where visitors will be able to build a model of themselves out of plastic parts, and a LEGO Pick a Brick Wall department, where "home builders" will be helped to pick out the parts needed for their own projects.

The Minifigure Tower will also allow the builders to customise their plastic people with a wide selection of legs, torsos, heads, hair and accessories.

All this means that regular visitors will have to bear with us over the next few months as work on the expansion has already begun. From the end of April, only the ground floor will be accessible, and the entire shop will close on 26 June. The exact date of the future lego giant's opening is unknown, but it is expected to happen before the end of the school summer holidays.
