Eva Green Hospitalized After Wednesday Set Injury
Eva Green has reportedly been treated in hospital following an accident during filming for Netflix’s Wednesday season three in Ireland.
The French actress, 45, is part of the new cast for the next chapter of the Addams Family spin-off. She is set to play Aunt Ophelia, Morticia Addams’ troubled sister, whose shadowy storyline was teased at the end of season two.
The incident is understood to have happened while production was taking place near Dublin. Work on the series was paused as crew members called for medical help, with producers reportedly deciding not to continue filming until Green had been assessed.
A source said: “This was really nasty. Eva sustained an injury and was clearly in pain, and producers were taking no chances.”
Green, who became internationally known as Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale, was taken for treatment and is now said to be recovering. The accident reportedly caused a delay to the production schedule in June.
Her role adds another high-profile name to Wednesday, which stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams and Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia. The Netflix hit, developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, continues to build on the gothic family world created by Charles Addams.
Ophelia’s introduction is expected to play a key role in the next season. Viewers previously saw the character writing “Wednesday must die” inside a cell, while her journal and psychic visions hinted at a darker Addams family mystery.
The show moved from Romania to County Wicklow for its second season, making it the biggest production ever filmed in Ireland. Wednesday has faced disruption before, with the 2023 Hollywood writers’ strike stopping work on season two. Thora Birch, 44, also exited due to a family illness, causing her character Tamara Novak to be cut from the plot.
