Beckham Gets His Star

Tom Cruise was on hand as David Beckham received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, June 12, in a ceremony introduced by radio host Ellen K.

The former footballer was joined by Victoria Beckham and three of their children, Harper, Cruz and Romeo. Their eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, was not seen at the event, and neither was his wife, actor Nicola Peltz.

Cruise paid tribute to his longtime friend before Victoria took the stage with a speech that mixed humor with emotion. Referencing her own pop-culture past, she joked: “So, naturally, I assumed I was coming here today to receive my star for my part in that iconic cult classic Spice World: The Movie.”

Victoria then turned the focus to David’s move to America and his role in helping soccer grow in the U.S., a journey that began with LA Galaxy and later continued through his work with Inter Miami. That wider legacy also connects him to figures such as Landon Donovan, a key name from his MLS years, and Lionel Messi, whose arrival in Miami brought new global attention to Beckham’s club.

David also reflected on his bond with Cruise, calling their shared history in Los Angeles a full-circle moment after revealing that Jerry Maguire had been his and Victoria’s first movie date. The reference also tied the day back to director Cameron Crowe’s enduring Hollywood classic.

The ceremony underlined Beckham’s rare crossover status: sports icon, fashion-world fixture and entertainment figure. With familiar names including Eva Longoria and James Corden also linked to the event, the honor marked another public milestone in a career that has stretched from Manchester United and Real Madrid to Los Angeles, Miami and the Walk of Fame.
