This Morning’s Juliet Sear shares heartbreaking news after dad’s sudden death

This Morning Star Bereaved

Juliet Sear, the resident baker on ITV’s This Morning, has shared that her father, George, has died unexpectedly.

The television baker and food writer told followers the news in an emotional Instagram tribute, reflecting on her father’s humour, generosity and the close role he played in her family life. Sear wrote: “Sad news… this week we lost my wonderful dad, George, unexpectedly.”

In the post, Sear described George as a gifted engineer, a music lover and a larger-than-life personality with a sharp sense of humour. She also recalled how present he had been throughout major stages of her life, including helping her when her son George was a baby and later supporting her day-to-day in her bakery.

Sear, who has become a familiar face to This Morning viewers through her baking segments, also shared how regular contact with her father remained part of her routine. She said they often spoke on FaceTime and handled his weekly Ocado shop together, even though he was capable of doing it himself, because it gave them time to talk.

The news prompted messages of support from figures connected to ITV daytime television. Loose Women presenter Ruth Langsford expressed her sympathy in the comments, while This Morning presenter Dermot O’Leary also sent condolences.

Sear is married to Simon Sear and is the mother of actor George Sear, known for roles on CBBC and Disney Channel. George has also been associated with the wider young-adult television space through Love, Victor, the series led by Michael Cimino and developed by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Juliet and Simon also have two daughters, actress Ruby and artist Lydia.

In the closing lines of her tribute, Sear said her father had been devoted to her children, George, Lydia and Ruby. She also referred tenderly to her brother Phillip, writing that she hoped he would be waiting for their father in heaven.

The bereavement comes as Sear remains part of the broader This Morning family, a daytime institution long shaped by legacy presenters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan and later by a changing roster of ITV personalities. Her announcement drew a warm response from viewers and colleagues alike, with many offering condolences to the Sear family.
