Amy Walsh Backs Toby
Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh has shown her support for husband Toby-Alexander Smith as he steps into a new screen role opposite Dame Joan Collins.
Walsh, best known to ITV viewers as Tracy Robinson, is married to former EastEnders star Smith, who played Gray Atkins from 2019 to 2022. His character became one of the BBC soap’s most notorious villains after murdering Chantelle, Tina Carter and Kush Kazemi.
Smith has since moved into a range of screen projects, including a Jane Austen adaptation and the Amazon Prime film Seeking Persephone, in which he played Harry Windover. His latest role comes in A Murder Between Friends, a mystery feature starring Collins, whose career remains closely associated with Alexis Carrington, the iconic Dynasty role created during the Richard and Esther Shapiro era of the US soap.
The film follows a true-crime TV star, played by Collins, as she is drawn into solving a murder mystery at her country estate. Smith appears alongside Days Of Our Lives actress Nadia Bjorlin, with General Hospital star Jacob Young and US actor Trent Garrett co-directing.
Collins, Smith, Bjorlin, Young and Garrett attended the UK premiere on Tuesday, 2 June. Walsh later shared a photo from inside the screening on Instagram, writing: “It’s not every day your husband is on the big screen.”
The premiere comes after Walsh and Smith welcomed their second daughter in March. The couple, already parents to three-year-old Bonnie, have not publicly revealed the baby’s name. Walsh, who is the sister of Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh, previously confirmed over Christmas that she was expecting another girl.
Kimberley Walsh was among the first to respond to the baby announcement, while Emmerdale’s Isabel Hodgins, who plays Victoria Sudgden, and Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks, married to Amy’s Emmerdale co-star Michelle Hardwick, also shared their congratulations.
