Heartbreak for Emily Atack
Emily Atack has shared an emotional tribute following the death of her close friend and former partner, Charlie Edwards.
The Rivals star confirmed the news via Instagram on Thursday, March 26, posting a personal photograph of the pair alongside a message reflecting on their enduring bond. Atack and Edwards had previously dated in 2021, but remained close after their relationship ended, maintaining a friendship throughout her continued rise in the entertainment industry.
In her tribute, Atack described Edwards as a constant presence in her life, recalling their long conversations and mutual support. She wrote: “This is devastating to write. Charlie you were my friend. You were always there for me.”
Edwards, a tattoo artist known for his active social media presence, had built a following by showcasing his work and connecting with clients online. His final Instagram post, shared just two weeks before his death, promoted upcoming tattoo appointments in Grimsby for March and April.
Messages of condolence quickly appeared beneath the post, with followers expressing shock and sadness at the news of his passing.
Atack and Edwards were romantically involved for several months in 2021 before parting ways, reportedly due to the demands of her schedule. Despite the split, their connection endured, reflecting a dynamic often seen among figures navigating both personal and public lives within the industry.
Since then, Atack’s personal life has moved forward. She began a relationship with Alistair Garner in 2022; the couple are now engaged and share a son, Barney. They are expected to marry in Spain later this year.
Professionally, Atack is set to return as Sarah Stratton in Rivals season two, based on Jilly Cooper’s novel, as the series rides a wave of renewed interest in nostalgic, character-led dramas.
She first gained fame in The Inbetweeners and has since built a diverse career across comedy, drama, and presenting.
