Cruise Quits Knightsbridge
Tom Cruise has vacated his £35 million Knightsbridge penthouse amid concerns about safety in the area, according to reports, following a spate of high-profile robberies nearby.
The 63-year-old Mission: Impossible star is said to have left the central London apartment after a violent raid at a Rolex boutique in the same development, where suspects allegedly wielded hammers and machetes. In recent weeks, staff were seen removing boxes of belongings from Cruise’s Hyde Park–overlooking home.
It has been reported that Cruise is considering a return to the United States or exploring properties in the Cotswolds, though he has not publicly confirmed his plans. A source told the Daily Mail: “The over-aggressive attack on the store below cemented the lack of security surrounding the multi-million pound flats where Cruise lives.”
The actor’s sudden departure reportedly surprised building staff, who had grown accustomed to his discreet routines during extended stays in the UK, which had become both a professional base and a private retreat during years of filming and post-production work. London has long been a hub for Cruise, particularly during collaborations with director Christopher McQuarrie and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, whose projects have frequently anchored him in Britain.
The raid on January 20 involved a group of suspects arriving on mopeds and making off with luxury watches valued in the thousands from the Rolex store at One Hyde Park, after allegedly intimidating employees and bystanders with weapons. The episode added to existing unease in the area, which has remained sensitive since the fatal stabbing of 24-year-old Blue Stevens close to Harrods last year. In a separate case, two men have since faced court proceedings linked to an alleged high-end ram raid at a Yves Saint Laurent boutique on Old Bond Street.
Despite these headline-making crimes, data from the Metropolitan Police shows that personal and business robberies in the Knightsbridge and Hyde Park area fell by 14.5 per cent in the year to December 2025.
The Standard has contacted Cruise’s publicist for comment.
