Nadia’s Marriage Truths
Nadia Sawalha has spoken candidly about the realities behind her long marriage to husband Mark Adderley, revealing that their relationship has weathered repeated periods of strain despite more than two decades together.
The Loose Women panellist addressed the topic during a recent episode of her Coffee Moaning podcast, which she co-hosts with Adderley. In a short Instagram video shared on Monday, January 5, the couple promoted the episode while acknowledging the difficult work that has gone into sustaining their marriage.
Now 61, Sawalha explained that seeking professional help became a recurring step whenever communication between them broke down. Reflecting on the process, she said: “And we've been close to divorce many times. And we've been to marriage guidance counsellors, we've worked our a**es, really, to stay together.”
The admission struck a chord with listeners, many of whom praised the pair for speaking openly about issues often glossed over in public-facing relationships. Several followers shared that hearing such honesty from a long-established couple helped them feel less alone while navigating problems in their own marriages.
During the podcast discussion, Sawalha elaborated on how counselling—even when imperfect—offered tools that helped them reset and continue. She noted that the most testing periods came when both felt emotionally exhausted, yet a mutual willingness to keep trying prevented a permanent split.
The actress, who also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother 2015, went on to acknowledge that becoming parents played a decisive role in their decision to stay together. Sawalha and Adderley share two daughters, Maddie, 23, and Kiki, 18, and she admitted that without their eldest child, the marriage may not have survived its most fragile moments.
Sawalha’s reflections echo the broader ethos often discussed on Loose Women, a show known for its frank conversations around relationships and resilience—a tradition shaped by long-standing contributors such as Ruth Langsford and Coleen Nolan, who have similarly shared personal experiences on air. By extending that openness to her podcast platform, Sawalha continues to position herself as a voice for unfiltered, real-world discussions about love, longevity, and commitment in the public eye.
