Evangeline Lilly’s Brain Injury
Marvel and Lost star Evangeline Lilly has shared a sobering health update, revealing she is still coping with the long-term effects of a traumatic brain injury caused by a sudden fainting accident.
The actress, 46, said the incident happened in May last year when she unexpectedly lost consciousness and fell face-first onto a rock, leaving her hospitalized with facial injuries that required stitches. Medical scans carried out afterward showed her brain is now functioning below its previous level across multiple areas, prompting ongoing evaluations with specialists.
“I do have brain damage from the TBI (traumatic brain injury),” Lilly confirmed in a public update, explaining that her current focus is understanding the underlying causes and what recovery may realistically involve.
In a separate account, Lilly said fainting spells have been part of her life since childhood and were long attributed to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). She also reported additional blackouts around the time of the accident, including on the way to hospital and later at the beach.
Support quickly followed in the comments, including from her Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania co-star Michelle Pfeiffer and actor-activist Alyssa Milano, who both posted messages of encouragement.
Lilly is best known for her roles in Lost, Marvel’s Ant-Man films and Avengers: Endgame, plus White Chicks and The Hobbit installments The Desolation of Smaug and The Battle of the Five Armies.
